EventTrack - Smart Card Product
EVENTRACK TM
is a turn key solution offered by
Smart
Card
Solutions
for tracking attendance and lead retrieval at annual
meetings, conferences, events, and trade shows, as well as
providing an electronic stored value option. MagicLine, a
regional debit card provider from Michigan, first used the EVENTRACK TM
system in June of 1996 at their annual trade show. Since
then, the EVENTRACK TM
system has been used at numerous tradeshows and events, and
has allowed event planners and exhibitors to track leads and
attendance more efficiently than ever before. Through great
successes at largely attended shows, EVENTRACK TM
continues to expand its user base and is being utilized by
companies such as Microsoft, Dell, Compaq, Sun Microsystems,
Citrix Systems, and Lawson Software.
EVENTRACK TM
utilizes smart chip cards or magnetic stripe cards
and point-of-sale (POS) terminals for tracking data.
Card printers from Eltron are used to create custom
event badges by visually personalizing the cards
with names and event logos as well as encoding
information on the card. The cardholders demographic
information is captured at event registration, and
loaded into the system and onto the card. When the
cardholders present the badges at each booth, the
card is inserted or swiped at a POS terminal, and
the data is captured.
The EVENTRACK TM
system is scaleable, flexible and configurable. Each
exhibitor’s specific needs can be addressed simply by
changing the system parameters. The customizable features of
EVENTRACK TM
include the ability to randomly select prize winners at each
exhibitor booth. This feature can provide additional
incentive for the attendees to visit participating booths.
In addition, EVENTRACK TM
allows each exhibitor to organize a list of qualifying
questions or product codes so that they track responses for
each attendee when the card is presented. EVENTRACK TM
can also track additional information such as gift
certificates, or hold stored-value for vending, concession
or retail/restaurant sales.
At
designated times during each event, all of the
collected information stored in the terminal is
uploaded to the EVENTRACK TM
database. Each exhibitor can then securely access
their data on the EVENTRACKTM
web site with a login ID and password
that is supplied to each user. The data can be
downloaded to various file formats either during the
event, or up to 30 days after the event.
SCS
provides
the smart cards or magnetic stripe cards for the system, and
will work with the event organizer to create the artwork for
the cards. The cards can also represent a sponsorship
opportunity where a sponsor could pay to advertise their
name and/or logo on each card. For example, a radio station
sponsored smart cards for Cyberfest'96 by producing a four
card collector set featuring rock bands, including Smashing
